March 15, ETR Tour of Cades Cove and Gatlinburg.
The ETR March activity will be a preview Cades Cove trip, planned for the 2015 Southeast Divisional Tour. This will be an opportunity for all members to experience the Smoky Mountains segment of the Divisional Tour; and to enjoy an “almost-spring” day along the quiet side of the park, with your friends of the East Tennessee Region.
Please plan to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy in Cades Cove. Drinks will be provided.
The club will gather at 9:30 AM in the parking lot of the Oak Tree Lodge, 1620 Parkway Sevierville, TN 37862. We will depart promptly at 10:00 AM and travel the back roads to Townsend. There we will visit the expansive Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center Museum. Admission to the museum is $6.00 for adults, and $4.00 for seniors and children.
After leaving the Museum, the tour will progress to the park and drive the magnificent Cades Cove Loop. In Cades Cove, we’ll pause for picnic at the Visitors Center.
From Cades Cove, the tour will take the Little River Road past Laurel Falls, Metcalf Bottom, and on to the Sugarland Visitors Center. Members may stop at one or several of the scenic photo opportunities along the way. We will regroup at Sugarlands, where members can view the exhibits and enjoy a twenty-minute film about the history and the natural beauty of the park.
Leaving Sugarlands, we will travel as a group through Gatlinburg, take Veterans Parkway around Pigeon Forge, and conclude the day with dinner at Holstons Restaurant in Sevierville.
Please plan to join us for this preview tour. Bring your lunch and your friends, and help us as we plan the 2015 Divisional Tour!
